ABOUT US

Mission

FCP is a non-profit, cooperative organization that was started in the 1980’s by a group of moms who wanted to give their children a low-cost, preschool-like environment in which to grow socially and academically. We continue to strive for that goal and to provide the children with fun, safe, age appropriate activities that will foster their development.

Another goal is to have our members find friendship and camaraderie with each other. Family Circle Playgroup provides a unique opportunity to form life-long friendships for our members and their children.

Statement of purpose

The objective of FCP is to provide an atmosphere in which both caretakers and children can socialize and learn in a cooperative setting.

Location

FCP is located in Moorestown NJ. Although we are not a religious program, our programming space is located at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

318 Chester Ave, Moorestown, NJ 08057

Our programming space provides three large classrooms, a gymnasium, and a stage and dining area for in-house events.

Classes

Classes are available Monday through Friday, September through June. We offer classes for 12 Month, 18 Month, 2 Year, 3 Year and 4-5 Year Old Children. Morning classes meet from approximately 9:15 am - 11:30 am, and afternoon classes meet from approximately 12:30pm - 2:45pm.

Classes are made up of no less than 4 enrolled children plus any tagalongs. Typically, classes consist of about 5-8 enrolled children plus tagalongs.

Classes are not predetermined. Rather, parents who fill out the registration form on the Enrollment page indicate which days and times of the week they are available for playgroup. FCP will collect registration forms and fees. Then, in August the Registrar will match up parents who have children of similar age AND the same availability. We will notify you of your class day and time once classes are formed.

The parent stays on the premises at all times with their child. Tagalongs are welcome for an additional fee. Tagalongs are younger and older siblings to the enrolled child.

Schedule

A sample class schedule is as follows:

  • 9:15-9:30 Arrival/Free Play
  • 9:30-9:50 Circle Time
  • 9:50-10:10 Planned Craft
  • 10:10-10:30 Exercise/Gym Time
  • 10:30-10:50 Snack
  • 10:50-11:10 Story Time/Activities

Curriculum

In order to help members lead the best classes for their children, we've created a curriculum of suggested topics for each week. Each class will receive a calendar of themes that is perfectly designed for the developmental level of that class age. The curriculum includes varied topics such as:

  • Insects
  • Weather
  • Outerspace
  • Life on a Farm
  • Dr. Seuss Day
  • Pirates and Princesses
  • Circus
  • Measuring
  • Making New Friends
  • ....and so much more!
Supplies are available to all members so they can create age appropriate activities. Our program provides members with books corresponding to each week's topic, arts & crafts supplies, music toys, manipulative, free play toys, gym equipment, and more!

Preschool

There is a preschool program for children who will be 3 years old by October 1st of the program year. There is also a program for those who will be 4 year olds by October 1st of the program year. Once registration and tuition is complete, you can request the digital package at no extra charge by emailing Family Circle Playgroup.

Children will strengthen gross motor skills at gym time and fine motor skills during craft time. Not to mention, they learn about a new topic or theme each week and socialize a bunch! This at home preschool program will complement your child’s playgroup. It covers letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and about 15 other important preschool goals! It can be completed one day a week, or broken up over multiple days. Email us to receive a sample.

Registering for playgroup twice a week is good for children of any age. But it is great for children who will be 4 years old by October 1st, if you would like your child to warm up to a kindergarten schedule.

Other

In addition to playgroups, FCP provides special activities such as class trips, in-house events, meetups, and parents’ night out for free or at a reduced group rate.
